== Finnish == === Etymology === From Proto-Finnic *kimalainën. Possibly a borrowing from Proto-Slavic *čьmeľь, itself likely onomatopoetic; attempts at deriving from kimeä (“shrill”) or kimaltaa (“to glitter”) are semantically unconvincing, since bumblebees don't glitter and the sound they emit is the opposite of shrill. Compare Karelian kimaleh. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ˈkimɑlɑi̯nen/, [ˈk̟imɑ̝ˌlɑ̝i̯ne̞n] Rhymes: -ɑinen Syllabification(key): ki‧ma‧lai‧nen Hyphenation(key): ki‧ma‧lai‧nen === Noun === kimalainen bumblebee (Bombus) ==== Declension ==== ==== Derived terms ==== === References === === Further reading === “kimalainen”, in Kielitoimiston sanakirja [Dictionary of Contemporary Finnish]‎[1] (in Finnish) (online dictionary, continuously updated), Kotimaisten kielten keskuksen verkkojulkaisuja 35, Helsinki: Kotimaisten kielten tutkimuskeskus (Institute for the Languages of Finland), 2004–, retrieved 2 July 2023 === Anagrams === likaaminen
