kelepçe
التعريفات والمعاني
== Turkish ==
=== Etymology ===
Inherited from Ottoman Turkish كلبچه (kelepçe), a metathesis of بیلكجه (bilekçe) (whence modern Turkish bilekçe). By surface analysis, bilek (“wrist”) + -çe (nominalizing diminutive suffix). Nişanyan says the view that the word comes from Ottoman Turkish كلب (keleb, “spool, skein, ball of yarn”) (from Persian کلاف (kalâf)), which was introduced by Ahmed Vefik Paşa, is erroneous, and notes that he himself showed it as the correct view until 2018.
