== Finnish == === Etymology === From keittää (“to boil, to cook”) +‎ -o; original literal sense “boiling, cooking”. (soup): Referring to the fact that most soups (at least in Finnish cuisine) are prepared by boiling ingredients in water (or another liquid). In Old Literary Finnish, the term was still more broad, referring to any boiled dish in general.
