Borrowed from Portuguese carneiro (“ram”), influenced by a Guarani language. A more expected adaptation would be *karaneru; the realization of /n/ as [ⁿd] can be explained by the known Guarani influence on Língua Geral Paulista, as is quite noticeable in kambarara (in Língua Geral Amazônica, kamarara).
