== Finnish == === Etymology === From Proto-Finnic *kaikki, borrowed from Proto-Baltic *kajakei. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ˈkɑi̯kːi/, [ˈkɑ̝i̯kːi] Rhymes: -ɑikːi Syllabification(key): kaik‧ki Hyphenation(key): kaik‧ki === Pronoun === kaikki (indefinite, uncountable) everything (in the singular) eikä tässä vielä kaikki ― but wait, there's more (literally, “and this is not everything yet”) (indefinite) everyone, everybody (in the plural, except the nominative form is in the singular, but verbs in the plural form) (as a modifier in compounds) all-, omni- === Determiner === kaikki all ==== Usage notes ==== The pronoun also has the nominative plural form kaiket, which is used only in some phrases, e.g. kaiket päivät (“every day, all the time, day after day, for days on end”). In other cases, the nominative singular is used in place of the nominative plural, even if the word being modified is in the nominative plural (e.g. kaikki jäsenet, not ×kaiket jäsenet) This does not apply to the other cases (other than the accusative); the genitive plural, for example, is used normally (e.g. kaikkien jäsenten, not ×kaiken jäsenten). Like in English, when used as a determiner, the corresponding noun or noun phrase is in the plural if it is countable, and in the singular if it is uncountable. ==== Declension ==== ==== Synonyms ==== (everyone): jokainen ==== Antonyms ==== (antonym(s) of “all, everything”): mikään (antonym(s) of “everyone”): kukaan ==== Derived terms ==== === Further reading === “kaikki”, in Kielitoimiston sanakirja [Dictionary of Contemporary Finnish]‎[1] (in Finnish) (online dictionary, continuously updated), Kotimaisten kielten keskuksen verkkojulkaisuja 35, Helsinki: Kotimaisten kielten tutkimuskeskus (Institute for the Languages of Finland), 2004–, retrieved 2 July 2023 === Anagrams === kakkii
