A järjestyksenvalvoja can grant or deny entry to a privately-owned establishment (nightclub, festival etc.), and in that situation perform body checks and search belongings for illegal or prohibited items, like a bouncer. They can also control vehicular or human traffic in order to prevent crushes, in which case the term community service officer may be more appropriate. ==== Declension ==== === Further reading === “järjestyksenvalvoja”, in Kielitoimiston sanakirja [Dictionary of Contemporary Finnish]‎[1] (in Finnish) (online dictionary, continuously updated), Kotimaisten kielten keskuksen verkkojulkaisuja 35, Helsinki: Kotimaisten kielten tutkimuskeskus (Institute for the Languages of Finland), 2004–, retrieved 2 July 2023
