jūnīx
=== Etymology ===
According to De Vaan, it is likely that this term is a secondary development, though it is still a hapax with late attestation. Nussbaum opts to explain the term from earlier *iūnī-k-, itself possibly a derivative of *h₂yuHn-ih₂-. Nussbaum suggests that the term perhaps underwent remodeling of the kind also seen in the suffix *-trih₂, which developed into Latin -trīx. Yet still, Nussbaum notes that this feminine did not appear in Indo-Iranian and was perhaps replaced by Sanskrit यु॒व॒ति (yuvatí).
