in statu nascendi

التعريفات والمعاني

== English == === Alternative forms === in status nascendi === Etymology === Borrowed from Latin in statu nascendi, literally “in a state of being born”. === Adjective === in statu nascendi (not comparable) Nascent; emerging but not yet fully formed. ==== Usage notes ==== In Latin there is a difference between the phrases in statu nascendi (using the ablative case) and in status nascendi (using the accusative case). The former implies “being in a state” whereas the latter implies “transitioning into a state”. In English usage of these phrases, this distinction is usually not maintained, so that these forms are used indiscriminately; however, in statu nascendi is the more common form.
