== Umbrian == === Etymology === Unknown. Possibly cognate with Latin hasta. If so, it may be from Proto-Italic *hastā-, itself from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰasto- or *ǵʰasdʰo- (“branch ~ spear, sharp spine”). Alternatively, the term could derive from a non-Indo-European substrate language.
