horvāts
التعريفات والمعاني
== Latvian ==
=== Etymology ===
Borrowed from Serbo-Croatian Хрват (hrvat), from *hurva (“mountain”); cf. Russian хребет (xrebet, “mountain range”). The original meaning was thus “highlander, mountaineer.” A different opinion is that this may be a non-Slavic, possible Germanic or Iranian, word.
