(in the plural) coat (feathers of a bird)
Synonym: höyhenpuku
==== Usage notes ====
Finnish general usage usually distinguishes between flight feathers (sulka) and the shorter and softer feathers that cover a bird's body (höyhen). Closest to the skin is the fine untuva (“down”), which helps to maintain body heat in cold weather. höyhen can however also be used as an umbrella term that encompasses all types of feathers.
