Apparently cognate with Latin glaeba (“lump of earth, clod”) (see there for more), glomus, Sanskrit ग्लुन्थ (gluntha, “lump”), and Proto-Germanic *klumpô (“mass, lump, clump; clasp”), but the derivational morphologies of all such words are uncertain.
