See also koke vekk i kål. Variants with more expected make cabbage of (someone or something) are very rare in Danish and Bokmål, but may be the original form according to NAOB (in sense of make a cabbage soup of someone), alternatively related to Swedish kola vippen (“die”) probably of Finnish origin (whence Trøndersk kållå veppen (“die”)).
