=== Etymology ===
Literally, “to turn/spin (the) balls”, with balls usually being understood to be a euphemism for testicles. Usually, either employed in a causative form ("far girare le palle", literally "to have someone's balls spin", i.e. to piss someone off) or with a subjective dative ("mi girano le palle", literally "the balls are spinning to me", meaning "I am very pissed off"). Palle may be substituted by any word that means testicles, as well as by the word scatole (“boxes”).
