== Old Irish == === Etymology === Le Mair proposes a novel etymology for this verb, reconstructing a Proto-Celtic *brodīti, derived from an o-grade causative/iterative formation Proto-Indo-European *bʰredʰ- (“to wade, ford”) only otherwise attested in Balto-Slavic.
