fehérje
التعريفات والمعاني
== Hungarian ==
=== Etymology ===
From fehér (“white”) + -je (“…’s, of…; its”, possessive suffix). The word in the second sense (“protein”) is the result of an ellipsis of tojásfehérje (“white [part] of [an/the] egg”) and a subsequent lexicalization; see also sárgája. It is a semantic loan from German Eiweiß (compare Russian белок (belok)) and was created during the Hungarian language reform, which took place in the 18th–19th centuries.
