According to Section 108 in A magyar helyesírás szabályai, 12. kiadás (’The Rules of Hungarian Orthography, 12th edition’). Budapest: Akadémiai Kiadó, 2015. →ISBN, this term is written as one word only if it is used in a meaning different from the original, literal sense, such as becoming a noun (as ’subway’, the vehicle, see below) or in the meaning ’illicit’. In the literal sense of ’underground’ (subterranean), it is written as two separate words. Nevertheless, its spelling is sometimes mistaken even by native speakers.
