eritä
(intransitive) to differ, be different [with elative ‘from’] (of an opinion, proposal, viewpoint, etc.)
(intransitive, dated) synonym of erota (“to separate, part, move apart”)
===== Usage notes =====
In modern use, this verb is used especially of an opinion or proposal when there is a significant disagreement between competing propositions. In most cases, “to differ from” would be translated into Finnish with erota or olla erilainen. In addition, it is hardly ever used in other than the third-person or participle forms.
