Elég (as an adverb) can only be used with adjectives and adverbs (e.g. elég szép volt “it was quite nice”, elég hamar odaértem “I arrived there quite soon”). With verbs, eléggé is required (this latter can be used with adjectives and adverbs as well), e.g. eléggé megáztunk “we got soaked pretty much”.
