ekraan
التعريفات والمعاني
== Estonian ==
=== Etymology ===
Borrowed from Russian экра́н (ekrán), from French écran, from Old French escran.
Probably from Middle Dutch scherm, from Old Dutch *skirm, from Proto-West Germanic *skirmi, from Proto-Germanic *skirmiz (“fur, shelter, covering, screen”) (compare Dutch scherm (“screen”), German Schirm (“screen”)). Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *(s)ker- (“to cut, divide”).
Alternatively from Middle High German schranc, compare German Schrank (“cupboard”), Schranke (“fence”) (from Proto-Germanic *skrankaz (“barrier”)).
