== Yoruba == === Alternative forms === oówo oío, orío (Ekiti) oghígho (Ondo, Ikale) === Etymology === Contraction of ewíwo. The existence of o- and e- prefixes is a remnant of an ancient Volta-Congo noun-class system, and both forms likely existed in the Proto-languages. See Ede Nago oówo, Olukumi ẹ́ghíghó, proposed to be derived from Proto-Yoruba *e-ɣíɣo, *o-ɣíɣo, ultimately from Proto-Edekiri *e-ɣíɣo, *o-ɣíɣo. Possibly equivalent to e- (nominalizing prefix) +‎ wíwo. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ēé.wō/ === Noun === eéwo boil, blister ==== Related terms ==== ọyún (“pus”) egbò (“sore, wound”) ojiju, ojuju (“sore”)
