Inherited from Ottoman Turkish دیكلمك (dikilmek, “to be sewed or stitched, to be planted, to be erected, for the eyes to become fixed upon an object, for a drink to be wholly drunk up”), from Ottoman Turkish دیكمك (dikmek, “to sew, to stitch, to plant, to stick a thing into a thing, to fix the eyes on an object, to drink off”), from Proto-Turkic *tik- (“to plant vertically”).
