From Proto-Celtic *dagos.
Attested as a proper name or as a theme in proper names: Dagus (with a regular change of -os to -us), Dago, Dagomarus, Dagorigis, Bitudaga, and in various inscriptions in the feminine form (daga), in the feminine accusative (uncertain: dagin), and perhaps in the abbreviated form da from *dagon.
