=== Etymology ===
From an unattested stem of unknown origin possibly related to the stem of the regional verb csuporít (“to constrict, contract sth”) with a frequentative suffix -(o)r. It had an earlier variant csopor/csupur, probably by the analogy of existing r-final nominals like fodor. The current form has a noun-forming suffix -t.
