==== Usage notes ====
This term follows the Strident-Coronal rule. This means that a non-lengthened vowel is deleted between an ⟨s⟩, ⟨sh⟩, ⟨lh⟩ or ⟨ch⟩ preceded by a long, rhythmically lengthened or nasal vowel or a short vowel followed by ⟨h⟩ or ⟨ꞌ⟩, and a following suffix beginning with a ⟨t⟩, ⟨n⟩, ⟨l⟩ or ⟨ch⟩. After this rule is applied, a cluster consisting of ⟨ch⟩ plus a following consonant would be expected but the ⟨ch⟩ is changed into a ⟨sh⟩ in accordance with the Ch-Sh rule.
