Literally, “bow of the Trinity”. Calques the image of the rainbow in Genesis 9:13, reframed with explicit Trinitarian attribution:
Attested principally in Carmarthenshire and Swansea, the heartland of the 18th-century Welsh Methodist Revival, that opposed Unitarianism, etc, as a probable link. Compare bwa'r arch (“bow of the Ark”), a related and likely-older dialectal form widespread across southwest Wales.
