From Proto-Turkic *bōńduruk (“yoke”). By surface analysis, izafet I compound of boyun + duruq. Cognate with Turkish boyunduruk, Kyrgyz моюнтурук (moyunturuk), Uzbek boʻyinturuq, etc.
