A tall, deciduous tree, Robinia pseudoacacia, in the subfamily Faboideae of the pea family (Fabaceae), native to the southeastern United States, having pinnately compound leaves, spiny stipules, long drooping racemes of fragrant, creamy-white flowers, and strong stiff wood that is rather resistant to decay; considered an invasive species in some areas.
