Inherited from Ottoman Turkish بتشك (bitişik, “touching, adjoining, adjacent, united”), from Ottoman Turkish بتشمك (bitişmek, “to become contiguous, to join, to grow together, to adhere”), from Proto-Turkic *bütüĺ- (“to mutually confirm”), morphologically bitiş- + -ik.
