== Albanian == === Etymology === Uncertain, but cognate to Romanian păstaie (“pod”), Aromanian pãstalji (“pod”): Possibly borrowed from Vulgar Latin *pī̆stālia (whence also the (A)Romanian words), from Late Latin pī̆stāre (“to pound”), frequentative of Latin pīnsāre (“to stamp, pound, crush”), but this is semantically questionable. An alternative proposal is from bisht (“tail”) +‎ -ajë.
