Tautogolabrus adspersus, a wrasse native to the western Atlantic, inhabiting inshore waters near the sea floor at depths of 10–128 metres (33–420 feet) and at latitudes of 36°–49° north, and reaching up to 38 centimetres (15 inches) in total length and up to 1 kilogram (2·2 pounds) in weight.
