belisnian
التعريفات والمعاني
== Old English ==
=== Alternative forms ===
belistnian
=== Etymology ===
Multiple proposed etymologies:
From original *belistnian, with simplification of -stn- to -sn-, equivalent to be- + lystan (“to lust”).
Although a spelling with -stn- is not attested for the infinitive, it is attested for other forms of the verb such as the past participle belis(t)nod (used as a noun "eunuch").
Alternatively assumed to represent *belīesċnian, with simplification of -scn- to -sn-, from the root of *lēosca (“groin”).
