Cognate with Ilocano aldaw (“day”), Pangasinan agew, Kapampangan aldo, Bikol Central aldaw (“day”), Cebuano adlaw (“sun, day”), Maranao ndaw (“sun”), Chamorro åtdao (“sun”), Malagasy andro (“day”), Manggarai leso (“sun, day”), Tetum loro, Hawaiian ao (“daylight, day”), and Māori ao (“daytime”).
