From Proto-Turkic *altmïĺ, but it seems to have merged with Salar altı (“six”) in the Jiezi dialect which is spoken in Jishi, the county seat of Xunhua Salar Autonomous County. Oldest records and dialects point a(t)mış or a(t)muş.
