Inherited from Dutch East Indies Malay, there are several possibilities:
influenced from an archaic word of Sundanese alpoekat (“advocate”), from Dutch advocaat (“attorney, lawyer”)
from Arabic الْأَفُوكَاتَة (al-ʔafūkāta, “avocado”), a variant of أفوكادو
from corruption of Dutch avocado (“avocado”).
Ultimately from Latin American Spanish avocado, from the earlier aguacate, which comes from Classical Nahuatl āhuacatl (“avocado”).
