Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آغسامق (aġsamak, “to droop and limp when walking”), from Proto-Turkic *agsa- (“to hobble”), possibly from *ak- (“to flow”) + *-sa- (“suffix deriving desiderative verbs”), equivalent to ak- + -sa + -mak.
