From Ottoman Turkish آقندی (aḳındı, aḳıntı, “a current of running water, stream”) or آقینتی (aḳıntı), from Ottoman Turkish آقمق (aḳmaḳ, “to flow, to glide, to trickle”), from Proto-Turkic *ak- (“to flow”), morphologically ak- + -ın + -tı.
