ajônê — southern Gheg, Kavajë
=== Etymology ===
Continuing a Common Albanian compound *ajó, from Proto-Albanian *au̯ + *hā́, continuing Proto-Indo-European *h₂au̯ (“away, from”) and Proto-Indo-European *sáh₂ (“that”). The second component, from Common Albanian *jó, is identical to the Albanian postponed definite article -a, which changed due to contact with final -ë in feminine words. (e.g. vajza, gruaja, makina, shtëpia). More at ai.
