The sky or ether's shine, skylight, diffuse sky radiation (the exact understanding or use depends on a given author's view of what aethēr is, and can refer to cosmic starlight under the belief that ether fills up space; least controversially it implies the blue sky of noon or, as rubra aethra, the red sky of sunset).
