Borrowed from Latin adōrāre (“revere, admire, adore”) or Italian adorare (“adore”). According to Orel, it is a learned borrowing from Latin. Attested in Buzuku's Missal as adoronj (influenced by the Italian cognate), while other old authors use the popular term adhëronj.
