== Romanian == === Etymology === From adevăra (“to come true”, obsolete variant of adeveri) +‎ -at. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /a.de.vəˈrat/ Rhymes: -at Hyphenation: a‧de‧vă‧rat === Adjective === adevărat m or n (feminine singular adevărată, masculine plural adevărați, feminine/neuter plural adevărate) true (that which yields a truth) Antonyms: fals, neadevărat true, real (authentic, the real deal) Synonyms: real, autentic Antonyms: fals, neadevărat (literary, prepended to the noun) veritable Synonym: veritabil ==== Usage notes ==== Certain adjectives, even in minimally polished language, can be placed before the noun (as opposed to the stylistically unmarked post-noun placement) to receive a specialised change of nuance. In this case, adevărat becomes, when prepended, the equivalent to English veritable: a component of literary language which often serves to insist upon a metaphor. This is not to say that adevărat necessarily has this meaning when found before the noun; this inversion of word order may be simply employed for unrelated stylistic effect. ==== Declension ==== ==== Derived terms ==== cu adevărat de-adevăratelea === References === === Further reading === “adevărat”, in DEX online—Dicționare ale limbii române (Dictionaries of the Romanian language) (in Romanian), 2004–2026
