Derived from English ice, perhaps through Japanese アイス (aisu, “ice”, in English words and wasei eigo). Compare the immediately-borrowed aisbaks (“refrigerator”, from icebox) as opposed to ayeskeek and ayeskiriim (from Japanese アイスケーキ (aisukēki, “popsicle”) and アイスクリーム (aisu kurīmu, “ice cream”)).
