== Dutch == === Etymology === First attested as Zittert in 1865. Presumably derived from Middle Dutch sitter (“common land”) (indirectly derived from Latin sectura (“common land”)) with epenthetic -t. An alternative hypothesis proposes a derivation from Old High German sigituri (“section of forest intended for logging”) (derived from Latin secretarium). Compare Sittard, Zijtaart and Zittard. === Pronunciation === IPA(key): /ˈzɪ.tərt/ Hyphenation: Zit‧tert Rhymes: -ɪtərt === Proper noun === Zittert n a neighbourhood of Land van Cuijk, North Brabant, Netherlands === References === van Berkel, Gerard; Samplonius, Kees (2018), Nederlandse plaatsnamen verklaard (in Dutch), Mijnbestseller.nl, →ISBN
