=== Etymology ===
Coined by Brazilian writer and journalist Francisco da Silveira Bueno in 1960. As Bueno himself described, it was formed by a seemingly Old Tupi compound of embu (“place”) + ara (“full of light, good weather”) + ama (“many”). Apart from 'ara, however, none of these words existed in that language.
