== English == === Alternative forms === Ulan Bator (from Russian) === Etymology === A transliteration of Mongolian Улаанбаатар (Ulaanbaatar), a compound of улаан (ulaan, “red”, adjective) and баатар (baatar, “hero”, cognate to bogatyr).
