From sigi (“victory”) + frit (“peace”, feminine o-stem equivalent of frīdu. Cf. Old English frēod, Gothic 𐍆𐍂𐌹𐌾𐌰𐌸𐍅𐌰 (frijaþwa)), ultimately from Proto-Germanic *sigiz and *frīþō (“peace”) from *frijaz + *-iþō
