== German == === Etymology === Backformed from schmackofatzen (“to taste good; to eat something tasty”), from Polish smakować (“to taste (good)”), from Middle Low German smāken. The verb is usual in the Ruhr Area vernacular, where it fit in with Westphalian Low German schmaken.
