== Dutch == === Etymology === First attested as rodanburg in 918-948. Compound of Old Dutch rōt (“red”) and burg (“fortified settlement, castle”). Originally the name of a polder, named in turn after a former castle and nunnery. The toponym is potentially a reference to terra sigilata used by Roman soldiers to construct a military outpost near the current neighbourhood.
