Reptilia + -morpha
=== Proper noun ===
Reptiliomorpha
A taxonomic clade within the superclass Tetrapoda – reptile-like amphibians, which gave rise to the amniotes in the Carboniferous.
==== Usage notes ====
There is massive disagreement over what species outside the Amniota are in this clade. The interpretation of the branch-based definitions depend on the author's beliefs as to how non-amniote tetrapods are related to amniotes and modern amphibians, and the history is still (2024) unresolved, with diametrically opposed hypotheses both having significant support.
