== English == === Etymology === Canes is thought to be a corruption of Cannock. An early recorded form was Norton-sur-le-Canok. The parish of Norton under Cannock was recorded in the 19th century, when it was incorporated into Brownhills District. Another source records Norton under Cannock as another name for Norton Canes in the 19th century.
